#1 MYTH – Wooden Doors Are of Better Quality Than PVC or Aluminum Doors
Both wooden doors and those made of PVC and aluminum are of good quality. Each material has its pros and cons.
- Aluminum doors have high resistance to weather conditions and do not require maintenance. Aluminum doors do not warp or bend. The drawback of such doors (for some) may be the high price. These doors are relatively more expensive than those made of PVC or steel.
- The advantages of PVC doors are low cost, good thermal insulation properties, and ease of cleaning. A potential downside may be (but not necessarily) susceptibility to warping under high temperatures—appropriate steel reinforcements and proper installation can prevent warping.
- Wooden doors are made of natural material. The advantage is low thermal expansion due to temperature and good thermal insulation properties. Their durability is a plus—ranging from 50 to 80 years with proper maintenance—which is also a downside. Wooden doors require special care; they need to be painted every few years for wood preservation, especially on the sunlit side.
#3 MYTH – Exterior doors should open inward
Proponents of doors that open inward emphasize that these doors are more resistant to break-ins because they are harder to force open, as the hinges are on the inside of the house. This belief is incorrect—break-in resistant doors are those that have the appropriate class of resistance to break-ins.
There are no guidelines specifying which direction doors should open. Doors should open in the direction that is more convenient and comfortable.
#4 MYTH – Glazing in doors reduces security levels
When choosing glazed doors, it is advisable to select P4 glass, which is burglary-resistant. This glass has increased resistance to puncture or breakage from blunt or sharp objects. It is made of two panes of glass, each 4 mm thick, separated by 4 layers of durable PVB film. In our offer, we have doors with glazing, which come standard with safety glass 33.1 – which also poses an additional challenge for burglars, and this glass does not shatter upon breaking; it creates a spiderweb pattern on the pane. If someone feels the need for additional security, it is worth choosing P4 glass.
#5 MYTH – You can only order the doors from the NEWAY brand that are in the catalog
