Installation of external doors

Installation of external doors

Entrance doors are one of the first and most important building elements that guests see when entering our home. Therefore, when choosing our doors, we often focus primarily on their appearance. However, to ensure that the doors not only look good but also fulfill their function, proper installation is essential, providing us with comfort in everyday use of external doors under all weather conditions.

Proper door installation

Well-installed doors will serve us for many years. Incorrect door installation can cause the doors to:

  • be easier to force open,
  • be harder to open/close,
  • let cold air into the house.

Self-installation of doors

Self-installation of doors is not the easiest task. You need the right knowledge, skills, and tools. A much better option is to hire an installation team (preferably recommended by the manufacturer). This way, we will have a guarantee on the installation service and the doors themselves, as manufacturers usually require professional installation for the warranty to be valid.

What rules should be followed when installing doors?

  • A vapor-proof tape is applied to the door frame;
  • The door frame is placed in the opening, and the height above the floor is determined and leveled;
  • Once the frame is in place, the door leaf should be installed and adjusted;
  • The installed frame should be stable enough to support the weight of the door leaf.

Types of installation

The installation of doors depends on whether we are replacing the door or installing it during house construction. The choice of installation method should guarantee durability, aesthetics, and ergonomic use.

Combined installation – using system solutions that ensure durability; it involves directly fixing the door frame to the wall and anchoring it with brackets.
